Big pulsing fingertip blister
Ok, boulder comp on Friday and I got a big blister yesterday. I didn't see it coming and have been taking much drastic action to get rid of it.
Yes, I whacked some cream on it and covered it with tape.
After some reading online the views out there seem to vary. How should a climber deal with blisters? Tape it and forget about it? Bandage with cream and hope for quick recovery? Drain it? Remove skin? Keep skin? What?
What do YOU do?
How big is it? Is it filled with liquid?
Should have ripped it off and let it dry/heal as soon as it came.. probably a little to late for that now.
Chalk it and tape it
It's reduced a little since yesterday. Maybe about 6mil across now. Was 10 mil last night.
I drained it a little with a pin and I might do the whole one stitch thing to keep it drained constantly. That and keeping it soft at night so it doesn't crack. Hopefully the new skin is growing nicely under the old stuff.
And no, I will not be flagging the comp. Not after all this time.
Id rip the top off it and throw some meths on the new skin underneath. That should sort it out pretty good!
Well, got up this morning and checked on progress.
The loose skin seems to have been reclaimed by the finger and there's hardly any evidence of damage. Will see if it survives tomorrow.
