Castle Hill Action
As the sticky conditions arrive and people remember how bad they are at sport climbing activity is picking up at the hill again. After ticking another 32 on Saturday Derek Thatcher visited Quantum Field on Sunday to gain an ascent of Apocalypse V11. This extremely reachy and slightly high problem has been a much-eyed line in the past and was recently established by the very tall Seb on his return from Britain and given the big number 11. The almost as tall Derek now has the second ascent.
In other news, strong American visitor Pai (surname unknown, perhaps some kind of fruit or meat?) has gained the second ascent of a long standing unrepeated Derek Thatcher V10 sit start named Fierce Crimpy. Obviously this fellow doesn't eat too many of his namesake. With Derek having provided grades for all those hard-looking problems he has done over the past while and the arrival of more strong Americans for extended winter visits there are bound to be some more hard repeats and big numbers flying everywhere.
In a related incident sketchy reports suggest that 'NZ bouldering icon' John Palmer has been experiencing severe heart palpitations and reaching orgasmic levels of excitement.
